(unconforming beacons of viniferous hope)

Stratigraphy is the brand of geology comprising natural divisons of rocks, mainly sedimentary, and interpretation of their significance in geologic history.  In geographic terms, the southwest Wester Cape is referred to as the Cape Granite Suiet (CGS).  The oldest part of the CGS, known as Swartland, part of the Malmesbury Supergroup, is a stratigraphic unconformity or break in a rock’s historical timeline.  Wines from the Swartland are as profound as the geology of their birth – unconforming beacons of viniferous hope.
